Being eco-friendly is an important part of MedWish International's mission and we want it to be an important part of your fundraising event! "Greening" your event will not only help save the environment, but also help save you time and money while supporting local businesses.

Tips on hosting a Green Party:

Send out Evites to your guests rather than paper invites. Evite template available here.

If you want to send out paper invites, use recycled paper. Or be creative and use parts of old greeting cards, scrap paper and ribbon that you already own.

Encourage guests to walk, ride bikes or take public transportation to your party.

Purchase food from locally owned stores or the West Side Market.

Purchase produce that is organic or from local farmer’s markets.

Use biodegradable paper plates, cups and utensils like those from Nature Friendly Products.

Better yet, use reusable (but not plastic) plates, cups and utensils.

Instead of paper or plastic tablecloths, use cloth tablecloths from a vintage or resale store.

If you do have plastic, aluminum or glass waste at your party, set out labeled recycle bins for the guests to deposit these items in.

Compost unused fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, etc.

Purchase beverages from local purveyors like Great Lakes Brewing Company, Phoenix Coffee or Maize Valley Winery.

Avoid balloons. Chinese paper lanterns are a great alternative.

Cut down on electricity and use soy or beeswax candles to light your party.

Donate uneaten food to a local shelter or send each guest home with a doggie bag.

When the party is over, clean up using nontoxic cleaners and soaps, recycled paper towels and biodegradable trash bags.
